ArmInfo. Despite the fact that IT sector does not belong to those vulnerable sectors that mostly suffered from the spread of coronavirus, however, the pandemic affects this area of economic activity as well.
In an interview with the Public Television of Armenia, the Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan noted that the domestic IT sector's growth has slowed down.
In this regard, he referred to the results of an online conference with the participation of representatives of IT companies, during which the latter reported a freezing of orders from Europe, North America and other regions. The acceleration in the implementation of grant programs, according to Arshakyan, is due to the current dynamics and situation. "I understand that this will not solve all the problems, but it can help to certain extent," he said, adding that he hopes for an early resumption of growth.
At the same time, the Minister drew attention to the fact that in the current situation, when domestic IT services are serving foreign markets less and less, the potential of the latter can be used for government needs.
