ArmInfo. Armenia and Russia reached a number of agreements in the field of high technology and industry.
This was announced during an online meeting between the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan and the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov. In particular, as the press service of the Ministry of High Technology Industry reports, in the near future, these agreements will be discussed in the working mode by the deputy ministers of the state departments of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation.
According to the source, during the meeting Denis Manutrov presented the development dynamics of the programs implemented by the countries in the field of high technologies and industry, target areas and opportunities for expanding cooperation. In particular, the active dynamics of development in the space industry was noted, marked by the launch of the program of the space monitoring center "Roskosmos". In turn, Hakob Arshakyan presented the partner the main activities of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in high-tech and military industries. The parties emphasized that since the days of the USSR, Armenia has accumulated the necessary scientific, technical and human potential to create the necessary technical solutions in the main areas of cooperation. At the end of the meeting, Denis Manturov expressed the readiness of the Russian side to provide Armenia with medical supplies to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Minister Arshakyan expressed hope that the world together will be able to overcome the difficulties caused by the coronavirus, and people will be able to return to normal life.
It should be noted that, according to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in the first quarter of 2020 the field of information and telecommunication technologies (ICT) of Armenia registered 3.6% growth amounting to 73.3 billion drams. At the same time, the lion's share falls on services - 62.4 billion drams (or 85.2%), which is 6.5% more than the indicator a year ago. Trade volumes in the ICT sector, on the contrary, decreased - by 10.7%, amounting to 10.4 billion drams (14.2%). And the smallest volume falls on ICT production - 435.1 million (0.6%), with an increase of 4.6% per annum.
