ArmInfo. In Armenia in January-May 2020 electricity generation amounted to 3,246.1 million kWh, with a y-o-y growth of 8.3% (against a decline of 7.4% a year earlier).
In May alone, the decline slowed to 2% from April's 5.6%, and electricity production for the month amounted to 575.4 million kWh.
According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in January-May 2020 to the same period in 2019, TPPs increased electricity generation by 49.1% to 1072.2 million kWh, while HPPs, on the contrary, reduced volumes by 20.5% to 850.4 million kWh. Armenian NPP generated electricity in the amount of 1,315.4 million kWh with y-o-y growth of 9.3%.
During the reporting period, 18.4 thousand gigajoules of thermal energy were produced, with a y-o-y growth of 33.3%. During the reporting period, wind farms produced 1.3 million kWh of electricity, which is 18.7% less than the indicator a year ago. The volume of energy production by solar power plants amounted to 6.8 million kWh, with y-o-yannual growth of 41.7%.
