ArmInfo.In January-August 2021, Armenia generated 5,030.5 million kWh electricity, which is 1.5% less than a year ago (against an increase of 1.9% a year earlier). According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in August alone, electricity generation decreased by 8.8% - to 576.4 million kWh.
In January-August 2021, TPPs reduced electricity generation by 1.4% per annum - to 2051.5 million kWh, while HPPs, on the contrary, increased - by 23.6% - to 1,681.5 million kWh. At the same time, the Armenian NPP reduced electricity generation by 25% per annum, ensuring the volume of 1,237.6 million kWh. During the reporting period, 11.3 thousand gigajoules of thermal energy were produced, with a a y-o- y decline of 61.8%.
In the reporting period, wind power plants produced 0.9 million kWh of electricity, reducing the volume on a y-o-y terms by 43.7%. And solar power plants, on the contrary, have significantly increased the production of electricity - 4.6-fold, ensuring the volume of 59 million kWh.
