ArmInfo.The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in 2021 increased by 15.8% (against an increase of 0.7% in 2020), amounting to 17,243 thousand tons. Of these, 12,067.2 thousand tons (69.9% of the total volume) fall to road transport, growing 23.1% by y-o-y terms (against an increase of 0.9% in 2020). This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
According to the source, rail freight transportation for the reporting year decreased by 2.4% - to 3,124.7 thousand tons (against a decline of 0.4% in 2020). At the same time, air cargo transportation increased by 8.1% (against a decline of 22.7% in 2020) - up to 17.3 thousand tons. 2,033.8 thousand tons of natural gas were delivered through the main pipeline, which is 8.7% more than a year ago (instead of an increase of 9.3%). Cargo turnover increased by 8.1% in 2021 (against a decline of 1.5% in 2020), amounting to 5,087 million ton-km.
Passenger traffic for the reporting year increased by 54% - up to 69,896.1 thousand people, against a decline of 64.1% in 2020.
In particular, road transportation increased by 49.7% (against a decline of 66.7% in 2020) - up to 82072.4 thousand people, transportation by rail - by 42.7% (against a decline of 28.6% in 2020 ) up to 434.6 thousand people, by air - 2.7-fold(instead of a decline of 75.4%) up to 2,400.3 thousand people, passenger transportation by electric transport - by 63.8% (against a decline of 46.2%) - up to 22 742.8 thousand people.
Passenger traffic in 2021 increased by 81.8% (against a decline of 67.7% in 2020), amounting to 1620.3 million passenger-km.
