ArmInfo. Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia Nerses Yeritsyan, speaking at the opening ceremony of the Silicon Mountains Tech Summit 2022 on June 17, presented the digital agenda of Armenia developed jointly with the government.
He noted that the vision of the agenda is that open and high-quality data is a national treasure. " The data on the server itself is nothing, but if it is available and you can create value on its basis, this is already wealth, equated to gold, copper, etc.," the deputy chairman of the Central Bank said.
rAccording to him, the implementation of this agenda will provide a developed and secure digital environment for business, new opportunities for competitiveness, an increase in income levels for the public, and will solve the problem of management efficiency for government agencies. As Yeritsyan noted, the result of the implementation of the digital agenda in Armenia will be the provision of uninterrupted, proactive, convenient and personalized services. "The most important issue that will be resolved is that the data will become the property of the individual, and we should have control over it," he said. In particular, the Deputy Head of the Central Bank emphasized that by implementing the process of digital transformation, after 2-3 years, 90-100% of the data in the country will be available online, and at least half of them should be actively used.
According to him, to achieve the goals, the active participation of business, cooperation with international organizations and serious legislative changes are necessary. In this regard, he stressed that there is a need to maintain the right to data ownership in order to form an information society.
At the same time, according to Yeritsyan, one of the main problems for the implementation of digital transformation is the lack of technology and good specialists, which, in his opinion, are quite a lot in Armenia. In this context, he stressed that the main problem is the imperfection of the order, legislation and cooperation mechanisms in the country.
