ArmInfo. "You can form an opinion about the military- industrial complex of each country on the basis of other productions, apart from military-industrial, but what is produced in Armenia? Thus, it can be concluded that our military-industrial complex is not developed," said Sargis Karapetyan, executive director of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE).
He noted that the majority of Armenian companies in this industry are at the experimental design stage, but there are also companies that have made good progress in recent years and have acquired certain production skills. According to Karapetyan, investments are only now being made in the military-industrial complex of Armenia, and the growth is noticeable. "We are moving from the prototype stage to the serial production stage. But now there can be no talk of mass production. This takes years," the expert said.
However, comparing the situation before 2016, it was noted that there was no sector at all, as such. Today, there are several dozen companies operating in the field that have already tested their products and launched production.
In addition, Karapetyan noted that now our military-industrial complex companies can afford to hire serious specialists, both local and international ones.
