ArmInfo. In January-September 2023, the four telecommunication operators of Armenia increased tax payments to the state budget by 20.4% - up to AMD 30.7bln ($78mln). Of this amount, AMD 7.8bln came from direct taxes (including profit tax, income tax), and AMD 13.1bln from VAT.
For the second year in a row, the leader among telecom operators in Armenia is MTS Armenia (trademark VivaCell-MTS), which paid AMD 12.6bln to the state treasury in January-September 2023, of which AMD 4.3bln were in direct taxes (incl. profit tax, income tax), and AMD 5.2bln for VAT. In the list of 1,000 largest taxpayers, the company dropped from 5th to 12th position over the year.
Next comes UCom, which moved from 28th position to 18th, having contributed AMD 9.7bln to the state budget through taxes, of which AMD 1.2bln - for direct taxes (including profit tax, income tax) and AMD 4bln as VAT.
Telecom Armenia (TEAM brand) took 27th place in the list of largest taxpayers (versus 21st a year earlier), having contributed AMD 6.8bln to the state budget in taxes, of which AMD 1.5bln in direct taxes and AMD 3.3bln as VAT.
GNC Alpha (Rostelecom trademark) dropped from 138th position to 160th, having paid AMD 1.4bln to the state budget in taxes, of which AMD 743.4mln in direct taxes (including income tax, income tax) and AMD 580mln as VAT.
In the total tax revenues of 1,000 large taxpayers, the share of the four telecommunication operators increased slightly over the year from 2.3% to 2.4%.
In January-September 2022, the four operators paid a total of AMD 25.5bln ($63mln) to the state budget in taxes, of which AMD 7.9bln were for direct taxes and AMD 11.8bln for indirect taxes. During this period, the leader among telecom operators in terms of tax payments was also MTS Armenia, followed by Telecom Armenia, UCom, and GNC Alpha.
