ArmInfo. The IT sector faces a problem of hiring highly skilled personnel, Irina Dumanyan, Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Industry Softwear, said at her meeting with Armenia's Minister of High-Tech Industry Robert Khachatryan, who visited the company.
In this regard, she spoke about the educational programs that the company is implementing to solve the existing problem. Dumanyan also noted that the company closely cooperates with Armenian universities, making its contribution to the implementation of research work in our country.
In turn, the minister highly appreciated the activities of such a large company in Armenia and noted that the department also implements educational programs aimed at the transition to technological specialization, as well as the development of professional knowledge and career growth. The interlocutors discussed the possibilities of implementing a professional retraining program. Touching upon the statement of the Prime Minister of Armenia about the need to develop state assistance programs in the field, the minister informed the head of Siemens that the government had decided to extend the preferential tax regime program for IT companies for another year.
According to the government decision of December 21 this year. , the state support program for tax incentives for technology companies has been extended for another year - until December 31, 2024 inclusive. However, the assistance will provide benefits only for income tax in the amount of 10%.
The justification document states that these steps are aimed at creating new business entities and new jobs in the IT sector, which will serve as an incentive to increase the productivity and competitiveness of the knowledge-based economy of the Republic of Armenia, forming an information society, attracting foreign investment, exporting products and services of local companies and a global increase in Armenia's market ranking as a country with a developed high-tech sector.
According to the Statistics Committee, the sphere of information and telecommunication technologies (ICT) in Armenia over 9 months accelerated the growth rate from 65% to 67.3%, generating revenue of 649.6 billion drams ($1.7 billion).
