ArmInfo. There is no alternative to digital transformation.  Davit Hovhannisyan, Chief  Information Technology Officer at Ameriabank stated on the sidelines of the Doing Digital forum on April 3 during a conversation with journalists.

Considering that everything is changing very quickly today, new  technologies are being introduced, in particular Artificial  intelligence, Cloud computing, etc., customer expectations are also  changing.  According to Hovhannisyan, the latter expect the same  experience in the banking segment that they observe, for example, in  Google and Amazon.

In addition, the expert noted that highly qualified specialists  prefer to work in companies that have already gone through a certain  path in terms of digital transformation.

Hovhannisyan called another important component the integration of  companies into digital ecosystems, which as of today, is a kind of  guarantee of success and efficiency. In particular, he noted that it  is necessary for companies to be able to provide services and sell  their products through these systems, as well as to provide services  to other participants of the ecosystem on their platforms.

Answering a question from an ArmInfo correspondent, the Ameriabank  Chief IT Director noted that one of the obstacles to the digital  transformation of Armenia is the human resources scarcity of the  necessary scale to effectively implement all the requirements. In  addition, he pointed out problems with communication, including the  Internet, both within Armenia, for example, in the regions, and  between Armenia and other countries.

Hovhannisyan emphasized the need to attract foreign direct  investments for effective digital transformation, with the help of  which it will be possible to more actively promote the digital agenda  in the country.

Notably, the expert lived abroad for about 20 years, working in  various companies in such fields as consulting, banking, insurance.  Comparing Armenia with a number of European countries where he lived,  Hovhannisyan noted: "There are segments in our state at the forefront  in terms of digital transformation." In this regard, he noted the  high level of application usage, which cannot be said, for example,  about Germany and Austria.

At the same time, he noted: "Having returned to Armenia, I started  working at Ameriabank, since this bank is leading in terms of  digitalization not only within our country, but also in comparison  with a number of European banks."
