An international consortium consisting of world- renowned companies - the Netherlands Fotowatio Renewable Ventures B.V and the Spanish FSL Solar S.L, won the tender for the construction of a 55-MW Masrik-1 solar power plant in Armenia. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia. According to the source, it was the consortium that proposed the lowest tariff from the future solar generation facility, which would be $ 0.0419 of electricity, excluding VAT or 20.11 drams per 1 kW/h of electricity. For comparison, the tariff for small hydropower facilities in Armenia is 23.8 AMD per 1 kWh of electricity. The results obtained from the tender show that solar energy in Armenia today is able to compete successfully with other generation facilities, contributing to the growth of the share in the country's overall electricity balance and improving the level of security and independence.
