ArmInfo. In the Comprehensive and Expanded Partnership Agreement between Armenia and the European Union, the theme of the Armenian nuclear power plant is only touched upon in one sentence, which states that the Republic of Armenia should, as soon as possible, submit a road map for the decommissioning of the nuclear power plant. There is no other, camouflaged, secret or non- public article on the nuclear power plant in the document. With this statement, Deputy Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia Hayk Harutyunyan spoke at a press conference on April 4. This agreement, as the deputy minister pointed out, does not deprive Armenia of the right to have a new nuclear power plant.

The construction program will start in  2019 and will be completed by the end of the year.

Solar power plant Masrik-1 to build a consortium of Dutch and Spanish companies

ArmInfo. An international consortium consisting of world- renowned companies - the Netherlands Fotowatio Renewable Ventures B.V and the Spanish FSL Solar S.L, won the tender for the construction of a 55-MW Masrik-1 solar power plant in Armenia. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia. According to the source, it was the consortium that proposed the lowest tariff from the future solar generation facility, which would be $ 0.0419 of electricity, excluding VAT or 20.11 drams per 1 kW/h of electricity. For comparison, the tariff for small hydropower facilities in Armenia is 23.8 AMD per 1 kWh of electricity. The results obtained from the tender show that solar energy in Armenia today is able to compete successfully with other generation facilities, contributing to the growth of the share in the country's overall electricity balance and improving the level of security and independence.
