About 40% of deposits of physical entities in banking system of Armenia are concentrated at the leading three - "HSBC Bank Armenia", Unibank and "VTB Bank (Armenia)"
Arminfo. In Jan-June 2011 the amount of deposits by physical entities at commercial banks of Armenia grew by 15.3% against 3% growth in Jan-June 2010. In Q2 2010 alone the index grew by 8% against 7% growth in Q1 2011 and 3.6% decline in Q2 2010 to 470.4bln AMD ($1.3mln). As compared with Jan-June 2010 the index grew by 35.5% against 26.2% decline a year before due to 22% fall of AMD and subsequent growth in the amount of AMD deposits. As compared with Jan-June 2010 time deposits by physical entities grew by 38%, call deposits - by 28%, as compared with Q1 2011 time deposits grew by 6.4%, call deposits by 12.6%. The relatively fast growth in the amount of time deposits is due to the decision passed by most of the banks in the second half of 2010 to raise their deposit interests.
HSBC Bank Armenia registered the biggest amount of deposits by physical entities - 77.9bln AMD or $211.3mln: 55% call and 45 time deposits. Unibank is the 2nd with 51.5bln AMD or $139.7mln (mostly time deposits), VTB Armenia - the 3rd with 41.3bln AMD or $112mln (mostly time deposits), Ameriabank - the 4th with 39bln AMD or $105.6mln (mostly time deposits). The next five are Ardshininvestbank - 37.9bln AMD (mostly time deposits), ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank - 36.8bln AMD (mostly time deposits), Converse Bank - 24.7bln AMD (mostly time deposits), Anelik Bank - 16.3bln AMD (mostly time deposits) and Armeconombank - 15.3bln AMD (insignificant prevalence of time deposits). HSBC Bank Armenia has the biggest share of personal deposits in its total obligations - 60.9%. Unibank is the 2nd with 53.4%, ADB - the 3rd with 46.8%. Ameriabank and Armbusinessbank showed 73-74% growth in the index.
Three banks - HSBC Bank Armenia, Unibank and VTB Bank Armenia - have almost 40% share in the total amount of deposits by physical entities. As a result the top five has 53% of the total. BTA Armenia has the smallest percentage in the total - 0.2%. All banks showed annual growth in the index with 19 banks showing quarterly growth, except for Prometey Bank and Mellat Bank.
Byblos Bank Armenia showed the biggest annual growth in the index - 3 times (up from 17th to 16th position). ABD showed the highest quarterly growth (Q2 2011) - 32.9% (15th position). Prometey showed the biggest decline - 20.6% (19th position).
