ArmInfo. Import of petroleum-products to Armenia declined by 7.5% in the first half of 2015 and totaled 137 thousand tons versus 148 thousand tons in the same period of 2014, the report of the Armenia's Customs Service says.
In monetary terms the supplies declined from 151 million dollars to 98.5 million dollars. The petroleum-products were imported mainly from Russia.
Meanwhile, the import of motorcars to Armenia declined to 11 thousand units in the first half of 2015 versus 24 thousand units in the same period of 2014 (55% decline). The specialists explain this dynamics to be related to the slumping demand in the domestic market. In 2014, it is anticipated that customs duties on cars may increase sharply within the terms of EEU, which Armenia joined in January of 2015. As a result, the importers filled the market with cheap motorcars - 44.3 thousand cars were imported.
