Central Bank of Armenia includes RIA MONEY TRANSFER in list of payment and settlement systems

ArmInfo.  The Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) has included RIA MONEY TRANSFER in the list of payment and settlement systems. The CBA press office has told ArmInfo that the relevant decision was taken at the Oct 14 meeting of the CBA Board.

At the same meeting the CBA Board permitted HayPost CJSC to participate in the RIA MONEY TRANSFER system.

To note, as of 1 July 2015, there were 8 payment and settlement systems in Armenia - MoneyGram, Bystraya Pochta, BLIZKO, Avers, InterExpress, Private Money, UNIStream and Anelik. A few banks of Armenia have recently connected to SMT and F5.

To recall, according to the new forecast of the CBA, in 2015 individuals' transfers will decline by 25% (in USD terms) versus the previously expected 30% drop. By the CBA's data, in the first half of 2015, the inflow of private non-commercial transfers of individuals via the banking system of Armenia amounted to $537.1 mln (30.5% year-over-year decline). The major part of private transfers is from Russia - 74.4%.  The following countries rank next: the USA - 10.8%, Germany - 1.4%, Kazakhstan - 1.3%, France - 1.2%.  The year-over-year decline in the total amount of transfers to Armenia is due to the reduction in the inflow of transfers from almost all countries: Russia - 36.4% drop, Germany - 22.4% drop, Kazakhstan - 48.6% drop, France - 14.8% drop, Ukraine - 44.8% drop, the UAE - 44.2% drop. Growth was fixed only in transfers from the United States - 24.8%.
