Armenia has a chance to increase the exports of agricultural products related to the restrictions on the supply of Turkish products imposed by Russia, Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Sergo Karapetyan said during a meeting with the Director of the "Spayka" freight forwarding company David Ghazaryan, the press-service of the Ministry reports.
According to Karapetyan, a short-term and long-term program of increasing the amount of export should be developed. He emphasized that in spite of high quality of the Armenian agricultural products they are still not compatible with the Turkish products by their cost. The Minister mentioned fresh fruits and vegetables and meat products among the agricultural products, the export of which can be increased.
The Director of Spayka freight forwarding company David Ghazaryan in his turn mentioned that Turkey mainly exports greenhouse products to Russia. In this contest he emphasized the importance of increasing the export of the products grown in the greenhouse facilities of the country.
The Minister emphasized that related to the increase of the export volume the need of increasing the number of transport vehicles arose. He instructed the Deputy Minister Robert Makaryan to keep the issue under constant control and to report about any problems.
