Armenia's Minister of Economy Karen Chshmaritian received today the UN delegation headed by Shamshad Akhtar, Executive Secretary of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). As the press-service of the ministry informs, her visit is driven by a wish to assist a country, which does not have access to the sea.
During the meeting the sides discussed upcoming regional intergovernmental meetings, Armenia's participation in Commission's Session, which will be held in Bangkok on May 15-19, issues of implementation of Sustainable Development 2030 agenda and priorities of country's stable development.
The Minister of Economy emphasized that Armenia follows the initiatives and new approaches of UN and noted that steps are taken aimed at development of the country according to 17 goals of sustainable development adopted by international community in 2015.
Akhtar in her turn noted that UN ESCAP creates a platform that provides an opportunity for the leaders of regional countries to discuss regional problems. In this context she attached importance to the role and development policy of the Intergovernmental Commission.
