TUMO Center for Creative Technologies to open in Koghb, near border village in Tavush region

ArmInfo. A TUMO Center for Creative Technologies will open in Koghb, a near border village in Tavush region, Armenia.

The Koghb Fund for development of culture, education and sports, Simonyan Education Foundation jointly with the "Mission Childhood" charitable organization and a group of Argentinean philanthropists will implement the initiative. The memorandum on it will be signed on July 26, according to a press release.

The Tumo Center for Creative Technologies is a free of charge digital media learning center in Yerevan, Armenia. Since its opening in 2011, the center has provided thousands of students aged 12-18 an open environment where they can use the latest in digital tools, learn from media professionals, and explore the intersection of technology and art.  Tumo is a non-profit venture founded by Sam and Sylva Simonian who fully fund its educational program through the Simonian Educational Foundation.

Tumo's grand opening took place on August 14, 2011, with an open-air concert featuring rock musicians Serj Tankian and the Dorians. There are currently four TUMO locations throughout Armenia and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh. In the summer of 2011, the Simonian Educational Foundation unveiled its first center in Armenia's capital, Yerevan. With the support of the Central Bank of Armenia, TUMO opened its second center in Dilijan, Armenia in 2013. In partnership with the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) the center has expanded to two critical locations: Gyumri, Armenia and Stepanakert, Nagorno-Karabakh.
