ArmInfo. On November 17, Armenian Minister of Agriculture Ignaty Arakelyan met with representatives of Armenia's greenhouse facilities.
The press office of the Ministry has told ArmInfo that reminded the meeting participants of the ongoing discussions in all segments of agriculture, which aim to elaborate a strategy of agriculture development based on the received proposals. He stressed that it is very important to find an effective format of public- private cooperation and to determine the joint steps aimed at enhancing the yield of the agrarian sector.
The minister said that the development of greenhouse facilities is a promising direction in Armenian agriculture. In this light, he noted that the Armenian Government has recently decided to reduce the gas tariffs, which will contribute to efficient development of the sector and to enhance the competitiveness of agricultural products.
The owners of the greenhouse facilities, in turn, informed the minister of the events that can expand the agriculture capacities in Armenia. They discussed possible delay of gas payments for the winter period, which will allow raising the efficiency by 10-15% and expanding the business. They also pointed out problems related to the shortage of personnel, lack of training courses, etc. The minister assured them that the problems will be additionally discussed with the responsible persons to find more realistic and efficient solutions to the problems.
