ArmInfo. Gyumri has a serious chance to become a tourism center of Armenia, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan stated on December 7 at the parliament. He noted that till the end of December local government bodies of Gyumri will present the city's development program, which will be amended by the government and responsible ministers.
"Gyumri has a fantastic chance to become a tourism center. We have already discussed with Mayor Samvel Balasanyan programs of the city's development. Opportunities provided by "Pobeda" low-cost air company should be used and conditions should be created so that people arriving in the airport would like to stay in the city at least for several hours", the Prime Minister noted adding that he will be consistent in that issue. Karapetyan also added that housing problem will be solved in Gyumri till the end of 2017.
To note, Pobeda airline has already launched sales of tickets for flights to Moscow, Vnukovo airport from Gyumri-Shirak airport. Minimal cost of the ticket will total 999 RUR or $16. This is almost three-fold cheaper than prices on tickets of other companies on the same route. Starting from December 15 low-cost "Pobeda" airline company will launch flights to Shirak airport in Gyumri three times a week-Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
