ArmInfo. 1.5 mln Armenian citizens visited Georgia in 2016,which exceeded the figure of 2011 2-fold, while compared to 2006 the number of Armenian tourists grew 8-fold, according to the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
According to the source by the results of the previous year Armenia was the second (23.6% share) among the countries, citizens of which visited Georgia. Azerbaijan holds the first place-more than 1.5 mln citizens, Turkey is the third-1.2 mln and Russia is the fourth-1.3 mln tourists.
Georgian National Tourism Administration explains the positive dynamics with improvement of the quality of service and tourism infrastructure in overall.
According to the National Statistics Service of Armenia 1.97 mln tourists visited Armenia in Jan-Sep 2016, 3.6% y-o-y growth. 903.5 thousand people left the country for tourism purposes with 3% y-o-y growth. The number of Georgian tourists who have visited Armenia grew 29.4% y-o-y, the share of Georgia is 3%, versus 2.5% in the same period of the previous year.
