ArmInfo. Karen Karapetyan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, within the framework of his working trip to Gyumri, visited the Shirak airport, learned about the infrastructure condition and future investment projects.
As ArmInfo was informed at the press office of Armenia Government, the Shirak managing company of Armenian International Airlines is intended to implement an investment project estimated AT USD 10 mln aimed at the improvement of the airport infrastructure. USD 3 mln amount of above stated will be invested this year. The works on involvement of new low cost air carriers are also in progress, and within this purpose lower rates for services are set at the airport up to some services being free of charge.
"It is necessary to work with tourism agencies. It is necessary to create a proper environment , to make business come to the airport, to render different services," Karapetyan stated. He said also, that he is sure new low cost companies will come along with their flights from Gymri to different destinations.
To remind, on November 21 Pobeda low-cost air carrier launched the sale of tickets from Moscow (Vnukovo airport) to Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia. Until the end of the winter schedule, no fewer than 10,000 tickets are sale at the price of 999 Russian rubles, including all taxes and fees. The company reports that within the framework of Fly&Bus service, Pobeda offers the new flight passengers to make use of transfer services to Yerevan.
Pobeda will make flights to Gyumri starting from December 15, thrice a week - on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The departure from Moscow (Vnukovo airport) will presumably be at 8.00 am, and the arrival in Gyumri will be at 11.50 am. The departure from Gyumri will be scheduled for 12.25 pm, and the arrival in Moscow will be at 2.25 pm. On Sundays, the flight hours will be made an hour earlier. Pobeda uses a Boeing 737-800. Travel.ru reports that on the first days of the sales the price will be 1019 RUR (luggage, hand-luggage charges and other fees exclusive). This price will be available for almost all flights of December and January. In February and March the price of one-way tickets for most of the flights will start from 2552 RUR. In addition, Pobeda offers bus services from Gyumri to Yerevan for extra 510 RUR.
