ArmInfo. A water consumption centralized online management systems implementation project is started at 20 fish plants of Ararat valley.
According to the information of Armenian Nature Protection Ministry, on February 16 Ararat valley fish growing plants got acquainted with the details of the system mentioned. The Project is implemented based on the memorandum on mutual understanding between the Ministry of Nature protection of Armenia, United States Agency for International Development ( USAID) and the company of Coca Cola Hellenic Bottlers Armenia. Accoprding to Vahagn Davtyan, the Head of Armenian Nature protection Ministry Water Resources Management Department, in 2015 a pilot project has been implemented at fish growing plants of Armavir District, where digital water measuring units were installed. A decision has been taken to continue the project also in Ararat valley.
To mention, according to USAID research conducted in 2013-2014 in respect to Ararat valley underground waters use, during the period of 1983-2013 the territory of underground artesian waters reduced three times down to 10706 Ha. As the result, 31 villages were cut off irrigation water. During the period of 1983 - 2014 the water draw offs grew from 34.7 cub.m/sec to 80 cub.m/sec, due to fish growing plants development in Ararat valley, which caused the water misbalance.
