ArmInfo. On June 21, Armenian Ambassador to SAR Arshak Poladyan met with Syrian Parliament Speaker Hadiya Abbas.
As the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo, Abbas highly appreciated the diplomatic relations between Yerevan and Damascus at the high level that have developed over the past 25 years, as well as the contribution of the Armenian Embassy in Syria to the development and strengthening of bilateral relations. At the same time, he stressed that the parliamentary format is an important part of the Armenian-Syrian relations.
In his turn, the Armenian Ambassador stated that the Armenian-Syrian relations have a centuries-old history, and they can be described as fraternal. He added that the grateful Armenian people will never forget that at one of the most difficult moments in their destiny, during the Armenian Genocide, the Syrian people showed concern for the Armenians saved from death. The Ambassador separately noted that during the Spitak earthquake of 1988 and the energy crisis of 1990, Syria provided support to Armenia. Poladyan added that in the current difficult stage Armenia in its turn is trying to extend a helping hand to the Syrian people within its forces.
The ambassador also informed that regular flights Yerevan-Damascus, carried out by the airline "Ajnihat ash-Sham", started on June 21, which will significantly simplify communications between the two countries and give additional impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
