ArmInfo. Armenia attaches great importance to warm and good- neighborly relations with Iran, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said at a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Roukhani in Tehran.
As the press service of the Armenian government reports, greeting the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, Karen Karapetyan noted with satisfaction that the Armenian-Iranian relations are at a high level, and bilateral cooperation continues to develop in an atmosphere of mutual understanding.
Hassan Roukhani, noted that the visit of the Armenian Prime Minister will help further deepen bilateral relations in various fields. He expressed readiness to assist the initiatives of the governments of the two countries, as well as the implementation of joint programs.
The interlocutors noted the importance of deepening and expanding cooperation in energy, IT, agriculture, tourism, between FEZ "Syunik" and "Aras" in order to increase bilateral trade.
Karen Karapetyan stressed the high level of the political dialogue between Yerevan and Tehran. The sides also touched upon the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. The Armenian Prime Minister stressed that Armenia highly appreciates the balanced position of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict, which is an important guarantor in ensuring peace and security of the region.
For the first half-year Armenia's trade with Iran amounted to $ 114.4mln with an annual growth of 0.4%. At the same time, exports amounted to $ 34.7 million, a decline of 9.3%, imports - $ 79.7 million, with growth of 5.3%.
