The department notes that the accelerator ImpactAim is one of the most important components of the National Innovation Center of the Sustainable Development Goals, created within the framework of the partnership between the Armenian government and the UN.
Karapetyan stressed the importance of this initiative and noted that according to the intention of the UN partners, the goal of this accelerator is to maximize the assistance of both startups and venturers, and to understand how much to invest in order to prepare the ground for these investments, to accelerate these enterprises so that and they were able to take an active part in the implementation of the goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development. According to Karapetyan, it is important for start-ups, and for already already somehow successful business, to be competitive in the market, to commercialize and capitalize it, to attract investments, to expand business. The Armenian prime minister believes that this platform will serve this purpose. "The scope of the accelerator is new for Armenia, and we are very interested in its integration into our reality," the prime minister said.
At the same time, he stressed that today in the field of information technology in Armenia, in the conditions of open competition, there are quite interesting developments. Karapetyan noted that the Armenian government is interested and will use all its potential to help develop and expand this business both inside the country and when conquering foreign markets.
UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program Bradley Busetto noted that this accelerator will be the first of its kind platform aimed at creating social benefits through innovative and more effective approaches.
ImpactHub Yerevan jointly with the Catalyst Foundation will implement the accelerator initiated by UNDP. To participate in the first stage of the accelerator ImpactAim, 96 applications were received from 25 countries. The first phase of the project started in November 2017, and will last 12 weeks. In it, 7 business enterprises and two enterprises will take part as listeners.
