ArmInfo. Armenian TV channels will be reduced the rate of state fee for broadcasting programs. Amendments to the Law "On State Duty" were adopted at the session of the National Assembly of Armenia on December 21 in the second and final reading.
As the deputy minister of transport, communications and information technologies of the RA Boris Demirkhanyan noted in his speech, the draft law envisages reducing the state fee for broadcasting companies broadcasting in digital format to the republic from 20 thousand AMD to 1 thousand AMD.
For companies broadcasting in the capital, the state duty rate will be 500 AMD instead of 10 thousand AMD at present, and in the regions 200 AMD instead of 1 thousand drams at present. The decrease, according to the deputy minister, was implemented exactly as far as the increase in 2010 was realized. The Deputy Minister noted that currently 99.8% of the entire territory of Armenia is covered by digital broadcasting, which is a unique phenomenon. The application of new rates will not lead to a reduction in budgetary allocations. Despite the fact that the deductions will be reduced by 169 million AMD a year, however, the deductions from the revenues of the Public TV channel are 280 million AMD. As a result, the country's budget wins about 49 million AMD.
The presented package is designed to improve the quality of television programs. The law will come into force on January 1, 2018.
