ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan met in Davos with Swiss President Alain Berset. According to the RA President's press office, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction the high level of political relations between the two countries, giving importance to the development and deepening of trade and economic relations.
Karapetyan also met with the chairman of the National Council of Switzerland, Dominique de Buman. Having greeted Karapetyan, de Buman noted that he was glad to meet with him and discuss the details and preparatory work of the planned visit of the Swiss delegation to Armenia in Davos.
Karapetyan in his turn congratulated de Buman on his assumption of office, noting that in Armenia they value the personal contribution of the latter to the development of bilateral relations. "This refers to the recognition of the Genocide, to the balanced position of Switzerland on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, to a number of other issues," the prime minister said.
Presenting to the attention of the interlocutor the economic situation in Armenia, ongoing reforms and programs in the tax, customs, agriculture and a number of other spheres, measures aimed at improving the business environment, Karapetyan underscored the growth of the main economic indicators recorded last year, expressing confidence in the development of these trends.
Particularly accentuating the growth in trade turnover between Armenia and Switzerland in 2017 in comparison with the previous year by 3.5 times, the Armenian Prime Minister noted the presence of a great potential for its development.
The parties discussed the possibility of creating a chamber of commerce, as well as cooperation in the fields of winemaking, smart agriculture, information technology, mining, renewable energy, education, tourism and attracting Swiss businesses to these areas. The prospects of opening a direct flight Yerevan-Zurich were discussed.
