ArmInfo. The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January 2018 to January 2017 decreased by 6% - up to 2,800 thousand tons. Of these, 2,391.9 thousand tons (85.4% of the total) account for road transport, which declined by 4.4% in the year-on-year, the National Statistical Service of Armenia said.
According to statistical data, rail freight transportations for the reporting period decreased by 16.7% - up to 200 thousand tons, air cargo - by 50% - to 0.9 thousand tons. 207.2 thousand tons of natural gas were delivered via the main pipeline, which is by 12.4% less than the same period of 2017. Freight turnover decreased in January 2018 by 15.8% per annum - to 422.1 million tons-km.
Passenger transportation in the annual section decreased by 19.6% - to 14 168.5 thousand people. In particular, road transport decreased by 19.1% to 12,436.9 thousand people, and railroads - by 2% to 24.7 thousand people. and air transportation - by 8.4% to 189.2 thousand people. Transportation of passengers by electric transport also decreased by 25.2%, amounting to 1 517.7 thousand people. Passenger traffic declined by 19% year-on-year to 184.3 million passengers-km.
