ArmInfo. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan during the meeting with the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund Anthony De Lannoy emphasized the importance of the next visit of his delegation to Armenia before the talks on a new program of cooperation with the IMF.
According to the press service of the Armenian head, Sargsyan also expressed hope that the visit will be productive in the context of the future development of projects, targeted directions, as well as from the point of view of exchanging views on current problems and challenges.
The Armenian President also informed that now the development strategy is at the development stage of the RA until 2030, and thus, the visit of the IMF mission and the opinion and evaluation of the Fund's team about the goals indicated in the strategy will be useful.
Sargsyan highly appreciated Armenia's cooperation with the IMF over the past years, noting that thanks to the implementation of various projects in the country, with the active participation of authoritative international financial organizations, including the IMF, the success of implementing reforms in various fields, thereby improving the efficiency of the economy. At the same time, the Armenian leader assured Armenia's commitment to implement reforms that are based on the previous projects of the IMF and structural changes that will last for a long time.
In his turn, Lannoy highly appraised the successful implementation of the previous program with the Fund by Armenia, expressed the hope that the next program will be developed and successfully implemented with the same efficiency. The interlocutors agreed that economic growth should be felt for all citizens of Armenia, therefore further joint efforts should be aimed at achieving, among other things, this goal. Stressing that Armenia is already on the right track, the IMF Executive Director expressed readiness to continue assistance, for the benefit of the development of the Armenian economy and the welfare of its citizens.
