ArmInfo. Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Development of Armenia Narek Sargsyan reported to the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on the work done in the sphere of urban development in 2017, on the implementation of the instructions given by the President during the previous meeting, as well as on the priority projects of the committee in 2018.

According to the press service of the Armenian leader, Sargsyan presented work on improving the legislation of the sphere of urban development, the regulation of architectural activities, spatial planning and development of regulatory documents and their modernization, reducing the seismic risks of buildings and structures, as well as seismic stability strategies and a number of other issues. The Head of the Committee reported that, in accordance with the instruction of the Armenian President, with the aim of regulating and facilitating the process of issuing construction permits, a proposal was made to amend the existing procedure, which provides for the implementation of a significant part of the mechanisms via the Internet through a single system www.e-permits.am.

As part of the instructions of the President of Armenia, Narek Sargsyan presented investment projects implemented by the Committee in 2017, as well as major investment projects planned to be implemented in Yerevan and regions in 2018. According to the report, under the coordination of the Committee, 54 investment projects were implemented through state and private credit resources, of which 19 were state- owned, and 35 were private. According to Narek Sargsyan, construction works at the expense of investment projects are in the final stage. In 2018, with the coordination of the Committee, it is planned to continue and complete 7 investment projects, as well as coordinate the process of implementing more than 24 investment projects in the field of urban development.

The Chairman of the Committee also presented investment projects in the territories of special construction sites. Among them, within the framework of the development program of the city of Jermuk, the construction of a hotel complex with indoor and outdoor pools, the implementation of a number of investment projects for the improvement of the city and residential areas; construction of a ski center and a recreation area in Vanadzor; realization of projects on development of Tsakhkadzor and restoration of transport and engineering infrastructure, etc.

The President of Armenia gave a number of instructions to Sarkissian, among them, to continue the consistent work to simplify the process of issuing building permits and doing business (Doing Business) to achieve comparative advantages in terms of indicators. Also it is entrusted to discuss, forthcoming large- scale projects on the development of regional cities and individual communities.
