Turnover between Armenia and Italy increased by 25% in 2017

ArmInfo. Prime Minister Karen  Karapetyan received Italian Ambassador to Armenia Giovanni Riccioli  in connection with the completion of the diplomatic mission.

As the press service of the Government reports, Karapetyan thanked  Ambassador Riccioli for his contribution to the development of the  Armenian-Italian relations. The Prime Minister highly appreciated the  cooperation between the two countries in the political and cultural  spheres and stressed the importance of steps to deepen economic ties.  "In 2017, the trade turnover between Armenia and Italy increased by  25%, and we hope that this growth will continue as a result of the  active work of the intergovernmental commission," the head of  government said. Karapetyan also noted the importance of cooperation  with Italy in the framework of Armenia-EU relations.

Riccioli noted that as a result of the active work of the Armenian  government, Italian businessmen increased their interest in the RA.  "I am sure that this interest will bring better results in the  future," the ambassador said.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed issues on the agenda  of interstate relations, touched on the possibility of organizing  bilateral flights, noting the active work of the intergovernmental  commission at its first session last year.

According to Armenian statistics, in 2017, the trade between Armenia  and Italy increased by 25%, against the decline of 11.2% in 2016. The  growth in exports was 17.4% to $ 37.4 million, an increase of 26.8%  to $ 163.3 million.
