Ministry of Transport: In 2017 $ 181.7 million was invested in transport and communications

ArmInfo. In 2017, $ 181.7  million in AMD was invested in the sphere of transport and  communications of Armenia, of which $ 70 million in the form of  private investments entered electronic communications for the  re-equipment and modernization of the network.  The Minister of  Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of Armenia  Vahan Martirosyan stated this during the working meeting with RA  President Serzh Sargsyan.

As reported by the press office of the RA President, the minister  reported on the implementation of the instructions given by the  President at the previous meeting, priority programs, etc.

The minister said that in order to regulate taxi transportations,  legislative changes were implemented, aimed at ensuring equal  competitive conditions for all carriers. V. Martirosyan assured that  together with the toughening of licensing requirements, the quality  and safety of taxi transportations will increase.

Speaking about the ongoing road construction works, the minister  noted that the warranty period of 1-2 years, established under the  capital repair program for budgetary funds, increased to 5 years. In  the same vein, he noted that repair and construction of interstate,  republican and regional roads, as well as major repairs of 5 bridges  were carried out.

V. Martirosyan reported that on the Yerevan-Sevan highway there are  more than a thousand road signs and metal fences of 8500 meters in  length. He added that the same fences were installed on the most  dangerous road sections in Saravan, Sisian and Fioletovo. "Such work  will be sustained," he said. In addition, the minister recalled that  in 2017 the EU approved granting Armenia a $ 5 million grant for road  safety, which will significantly contribute to solving existing  problems.

The minister said that registration of highways of interstate  importance was carried out and a database was created that is  included in the world's largest search system - the base Google map.

The RA President, giving instructions, pointed out the need to keep  the construction of interstate roads in focus and the quality of the  works performed.
