ArmInfo. The currency interbank of Armenia reduced volumes by 37.9% from March 19 to 23, after growing by 27.1% a week earlier. At the same time, in the domestic forex market there was a decrease in the players' interest in both dollar and euro transactions, as well as in ruble transactions, while a week earlier they showed high activity. Exchange market since the beginning of the year to this day is empty.
As a result, the dram against the dollar kept its position at 480.5 AMD/USD1, becoming weaker to the euro - from 590 to 592 AMD/EUR1, "frozen" to the RUR on the bar 8.4 AMD/RUR1. A year earlier, on March 23, 2017, the exchange rate of the dram to the dollar was 484 AMD/RUR1, to the euro - 522 AMD/EUR1, and to the ruble - 8.4 AMD/RUR1, which, in comparison with the current rates, indicates the annual devaluation of the dram to the euro, at revaluation to the dollar and unchanged to the ruble.
As the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo, on March 19-23 inclusive, transactions in the amount of $ 10.343 million at the weighted average rate of 480.38 AMD/USD1 (against 480.54 AMD/USD1 week earlier) were carried out at the currency interbank market. Moreover, during the week the deals were made on a daily basis (except for Thursday), but the maximum volume was fixed on Wednesday - $ 5 million. In parallel, on the intra-bank foreign exchange market, after a sharp increase last week, there was a recession on the current one: buying / sale of the dollar by 58.5-56.6%, euro - by 64 54%, rubles - by 49-69.8%. As a result, $ 80.6 million was purchased at the average exchange rate of 479.56 AMD/USD1, 6.97 million euro at the average rate of 588.78 AMD/EUR1, and 842.9 million rubles at the average rate of 8.31 AMD/RUR1, and sold $ 72.03 million at an average rate of 480.82 AMD/USD1, 14.2 million euro at an average rate of 591.87 AMD/EUR1, and 507.1 million rubles at the average rate of 8.40 AMD/RUR1.
