ArmInfo. Every year the IT sphere of Armenia feels a shortage of about 2 thousand specialists, and these vacant seats can not be filled. Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and IT Amalia Egoyan said during a press conference on March 27.
"When we talk about workplaces, it is very important to raise the issue of the importance of technological education, which should be oriented to the needs of business," the deputy minister noted. According to her, the ministry intends to create a working group for this purpose. A. Egoyan explained that the group will conduct research through communication with the private sector in order to identify not the number, but the focus of IT professionals, which any enterprise needs.
"Today, number one task is to reduce the outflow of population. Therefore, in this regard, we intend to bring as many young people in the IT field as possible, so that our graduates do not migrate from the country, and choose a specialty for which the demand from employers is high, "she stressed. Answering the question of ArmInfo, A. Egoyan noted that the problem by and large lies in the thinking of representatives of certain spheres of production and industry.
In particular, the deputy heads of agencies recalled that in 2017, 15,000 jobs were created in the IT sector. According to A. Egoyan, this year it will be possible to increase the number of jobs by another 10%, taking into account the expansion of international cooperation, including the increase in the number of orders, etc. Earlier, the Minister of Transport, Communications and IT Vahan Martirosyan said during the meeting with the RA President that Armenia's IT sector for the year 2017 increased volumes by 29.6% to 76 billion drams.
