ArmInfo. The current situation in the sphere of animal husbandry, the existing problems and directions of development became the subject of discussions during the meeting that was held on March 27, which was held by RA Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.
According to the press service of the Armenian government, it was noted at the meeting that the development of the livestock breeding development program in Armenia is coming to an end. Within the framework of the program it is planned to develop programs for the development of cattle breeding, pig breeding and poultry farming, projects to subsidize large breeding livestock breeding complexes, the development of the veterinary system and the acquisition of equipment for the production of feed on leasing basis. Special attention will be paid to the implementation of the artificial insemination program, which will continue until 2024. Within the framework of this program, according to the preliminary version, it is planned to fertilize 20,000 animals by artificial means during 2018, as a result of which the production of meat from one animal will increase by 50 kg, and the increase in milk volumes will increase the additional consumption by 330 million drams.
During the meeting, the question was raised about import substitution of dried milk, improvement of pastures and other problems.
Karen Karapetyan, stressing the importance of implementing the livestock development program, instructed the additional department to discuss the program taking into account the existing priorities, to rework it in order to bring it to the final look. At the same time, the Prime Minister deemed it necessary assess the effectiveness of livestock cooperatives, the possibility of introducing veterinary staff in the community, instructing them to submit relevant proposals.
