ArmInfo. The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia approved the investment program of "Yerevan Thermal Power Plant" CJSC for 2018 at a meeting on April 18.
According to the press service of the PSRC, the total cost of the program will be 254.33 million drams (excluding VAT). The funds will be used to purchase equipment, vehicles, computer equipment, and modernize the water system.
It should be noted that the operating power unit of the Yerevan Thermal Power Plant in 2018 will be stopped for planned preventive repairs (PPR). From July 16 to July 31 of the current year, the station will conduct preparatory measures for conducting the PPR. Experts of the company "General Electric" will conduct a survey of the gas turbine plant, as well as the main equipment and auxiliary devices. The bulk of the work will be in the second half of 2018, during which the company "Generral Elecrric" modernizes the gas turbine plant, which will increase the unit's capacity by 7 megawatts and increase the efficiency by 1%.
Recall that the unit with a capacity of 242 MW with a gas turbine unit was put into operation in April 2010. The project was implemented on a loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to 26.4 billion Japanese yen (about $ 280 million). The Yerevan CHP is a customer of Iranian natural gas, which is supplied to Armenia in exchange for electricity at a rate of 3 kWh per 1 cubic meter of gas. The last time the block was stopped at the PPR in June 2014. Then the cost of overhaul amounted to 9.5 billion drams, 90% of which were used to purchase spare parts for the gas turbine. PPR is held every 36 thousand hours of work of the station.
