ArmInfo. The currency  interbank of Armenia reduced volumes by 14% from April 23 to 27,  after growing by 48% a week earlier. At the same time, players on the  intra-bank foreign exchange market increased their activity in dollar  transactions, especially in terms of sales, while remaining passive  towards euro and ruble deals. 

Exchange market since the beginning of the year to this day is empty.  As a result, the dram on April 23-27 depreciated  against the dollar  from 480.5 to 483 dr / $ 1, becoming strengthened to the euro - from  595 to 587 dr / 1evro, keeping the position to the ruble at the level  of 7.8 dr / rub. A year earlier, on April 27, 2017, the exchange rate  of the dram to the dollar was 484.8 dr / $ 1, to the euro - 528 dr /  1evro, and to the ruble - 8.5 dr / ruble, which, in comparison with  the current rates, indicates the annual devaluation of the dram to  euro, at revaluation to the dollar and to the ruble.  As the press  service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo, $ 9.750 million  was effected at the currency interbank market on April 23-27  inclusive at the weighted average rate of 480.71 dr / $ 1 (against  480.93 dr / $ 1 a week earlier). 

Moreover, during the week transactions on the foreign exchange  interbank market were made almost daily (April 24 - non-working day),  starting from a maximum of $ 3.35-4.9 million on Monday and  Wednesday, followed by a decrease in volumes to zero on Friday. In  parallel with this, on the intra-bank foreign exchange market, the  buying-selling of the dollar changed the trend from a 0.6-17.3%  decline to a 2-61.3% growth, buying up the euro from 8.7% growth  slipped by 8 The% decline in the deepening of the sales decline from  37.2% to 50%, while the ruble operations kept the downtrend -  26-27.5%. As a result, $ 95.02 million was purchased at the average  exchange rate of 480.59 dr / $ 1, 9.2 million euro at the average  rate of 585.16 dr / 1EUR, and 731.9 million rubles. at an average  rate of 7.70 dr / 1RUR, and sold $ 128.96 million at an average rate  of 482.42 dr / $ 1, 21.7 million euro at an average rate of 589.23 dr  / 1EUR, and 450.4 million rubles. at an average rate of 7.82 dr /  1RUR.  According to the source, from April 16 to 21, Armenian banks  issued AMD 60.8 billion in dram loans and $ 47.4 million in dollar  loans. In comparison with the previous period (April 9-14), the trend  for dollar loans worsened, from 64.7% down 0.4%, while in AMD, on the  contrary, it came out of the 5.6% decline by 23.6% growth.

It should be noted that in January-February 2018 the Central Bank of  the Republic of Armenia made interventions on the foreign exchange  market only for purchase - in total "withdrawing" $ 21 million. In  particular, the Central Bank bought $ 14 million in January at a rate  of 481.10 dp / $ 1, and in February - $ 7 million at the rate of  480.45 dr / $ 1. On the intra-bank foreign exchange market in  January-February 2018, $ 656.89 million and 73.9 million euros was  purchased, and $ 658.75 million and 116.4 million euros sold. At the  currency interbank market, transactions in the amount of $ 117.05  million were made in January-February 2018, which was accompanied by  a dram strengthening from January 482.61 dr / $ 1 to 481.07 dr / $ 1.  Exchange market since early 2018 to this day is empty.

Recall that for the year 2017 on the exchange currency area,  transactions totaling $ 3.3 million (January- March, May) were  carried out. The Central Bank for the whole of 2017 bought a total of  $ 122.6 million (June-September, December) and sold $ 22 million  (January, November). Prior to this, in 2016, the exchange currency  market also showed weak signs of life - one operation in March-May.  The Central Bank bought $ 152 million (April, June, August-October)  for the foreign exchange market in 2016, and sold $ 122.7 million  (January-February, November-December).
