ArmInfo. The volume of overdue loans in Armenian banks decreased by 2% on an annual basis (against a decline of 26.1% in the same period a year earlier), making 32.9 billion AMD by April 1, 2018. According to the Central Bank of Armenia, only for the first quarter of this year, the volume of overdue loans increased by 3.7%. At the same time, the volume of prolonged loans decreased by 15.9% year-on-year, but only for the first quarter by 1.1% to 98.5 billion AMD.
The share of overdue in the total loan portfolio in the first quarter of this year was 1.21% (against 1.39% a year earlier and 1.19% in the previous quarter), while the share of prolonged loans was 3.62% (against 4.83% a year earlier and 3.72% in the previous quarter).
In the portfolio of prolonged loans, 70% falls on short-term loans, and the remaining 30% - on long-term loans, the absolute value of which amounted to 69 billion and 29.5 billion drams, respectively. In the overdue loans, the lion's share falls on the long-term - 68% or 22.3 billion drams, while the remaining 32% or 10.5 billion drams - short-term.
In total, the volume of bank lending increased by April 2018 at 12.2% per annum, with a quarterly growth of 1.6%, amounting to 2.718 trillion AMD. Without taking into account the prolonged and overdue loans, the credit investments of the Armenian banking system increased by 13.9% on an annual basis, and by 1.6% in the first quarter, to 2.587 trillion AMD.
