The construction of the Davitashen-Ashtarak bypass is almost finished

ArmInfo. The work on the construction  of the Davidashen-Ashtarak bypass road, financed by the Asian  Development Bank (ADB) under the second part of the Investment  Program for Sustainable Urban Development, is drawing to a close.  Earlier, the deadline was announced before the end of 2018.

As the press service of the capital administration told ArmInfo, the  new road with uninterrupted traffic will have 6 lanes of 28 m wide  and 5.4 km in length. The Davydashen administrative district of  Yerevan will be connected to the western part of Achapnyak by the  Ashtarak highway. There will be a direct connection between Chavush  street - Ashtarak highway and Halabyan - Yeghvard highway, with no  traffic lights. For this purpose, two-level transport interchanges  will be built at the junction of Chavush-Ashtarak highway and  Halabyan-Yeghvard highway. The construction includes a new metal  bridge, 257 m long above the Hrazdan River and a 2,7 km long road  with a 2-way traffic. The new road will be equipped with lighting at  the level of world standards - LED lamps (LED). A completely ring  road around Yerevan is planned to be built by 2020.

Within the framework of the "Investment Program for Sustainable Urban  Development" - Tranche-2, construction of the Babajanyan-Ashtarak  Highway bypass is also under way. A new road with uninterrupted  traffic will have 6 lanes 24 m wide and 9.4 km long. The road will be  equipped with an internationally conforming LED backlight.

The Parliament of Armenia in February 2017 ratified the loan  agreement signed with the Asian Development Bank signed on October  13, 2015 with the amount of $ 112.97 million (Sustainable Urban  Development Investment Program 2) for construction of bypass roads in  Yerevan, allowing to unload the center of the capital. The loan was  provided within the second part of the "Sustainable Urban Development  Investment Program". The constructed routes will allow to unload the  central streets of the capital, and also to connect the main routes  with the standing corridor "North-South". The agreement is a  continuation of the implementation of the stable development program,  which is being implemented in the capital since 2011 and which is  planned to be completed by 2020. Within the first tranche, the roads  were planned to be modernized from the intersection of the Yerevan  streets Arshakunyats-Bagratunyats to Noragavit, continuing to the  Artashat highway and connecting to the North-South highway. The  second tranche is planned, in particular, to extend the road from  Noragavit to the intersection of Argavand-Shiraki streets, from there  to Babadzhanyan streets in Malatia Sebastia, up to Ashtarak highway,  and the third direction from Davitashensky bridge to Ashtarak  highway.
