ArmInfo. There is no sense in restarting the chemical giant of Armenia - the Nairit plant. The chairman of the Republican Union of Employers, economist Gagik Makaryan, voiced this opinion on May 11 during the press conference.
He explained that according to certain estimates, about $ 200 million is needed to modernize the plant, replace filters, etc., according to the government estimates - about $ 300 million. However, according to Makaryan, the amount of money needed to restart the chemical giant can reach $ 1 billion. It is to invest so much in rebuilding the plant, taking into account a number of risks, in particular, related to the import of raw materials, transportation of production, retraining of personnel, etc., he noted. In addition, in case of restarting , the Russian market will become the market for selling. However, according to the economist, there is no certainty that Russia, due to various circumstances, in particular, related to sanctions in one day, will not say that it refuses to buy rubber from Armenia. "Therefore, we propose the following. If with $ 1 million can be built 2 plants, then $ 200 million, which according to preliminary calculations are necessary to restore the work of Nairit, you can build 400 plants that will provide 20 thousand jobs. As a result, we will receive a diversified economy and competitive enterprises that will enter international markets. And with the restart of , the number of jobs will be about 4 thousand>.
In particular, Makaryan noted that he has several more proposals regarding "Nairit", which he sent to Prime Minister. For example, instead of "Nairit" Makaryan suggests creating a chemical technopark.
And as the last decision, G. Makaryan considers the possibility of turning "Nairit" as a "monster" of chemical production in the USSR into an educational museum, which, in his opinion, will arouse great interest among tourists. According to him, this is a long-known practice in the world. , he summed up.
Meanwhile, some experts believe that it is impossible to abandon a company that is unique in its essence. Its modernization will lead to a huge multiplicative cumulative effect that will allow Armenia to restore the development of small chemistry - cosmetic production, chemical reagents, production of special tires and rubber products. Chemical production had a special place in Soviet Armenia with its own personnel and special scientific potential. On the basis of its own developments, it is possible to set up an inexpensive production of highly demanded rubber anti-seismic cushions for buildings in seismic zones. At the plant "Nairit" the scientific research institute successfully worked, numerous developments of which are still being dusted in the archives. Unfortunately, the plant for the past 25 years has been seen as a "cash cow" for certain unscrupulous groups deliberately breaking up production for personal gain.
