Intentions of Armenian authorities to return network supermarkets to legal field led to higher prices for meat, fruits and vegetables

ArmInfo. The intention of the  Armenian authorities to return network supermarkets to the legal  field has led to an increase in prices for basic food products.  According to the research conducted, from today, prices for meat  products, fruits and vegetables in retail chains jumped by an average  of 25% -30%. In particular, such a rise in prices was observed in the  network of supermarkets "Yerevan City".

As the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia David  Ananyan stated, colleagues from the National Security Service were  informed of the early "latent" agreements of business with the  authorities.  With regard to agro products, where there are problems  with documenting the goods, the arrangement was that sales of  agricultural products in supermarkets were carried out by so-called  individual individual entrepreneurs. "In fact, 5% turnover tax was  paid, instead of the necessary 20% VAT," he explained.

To recall, yesterday according to the information of media sources,  cashiers of Yerevan-city supermarkets in turn are summoned for  interrogation to the National Security Service. It was reported that  supermarkets belonging to the family of the RPA deputy Samvel  Alexanyan, work with extraneous cash registers (CACs). That is, the  trade is made not only through the CAC of the Alex-holding company,  but also individual individual entrepreneurs, so as not to exceed the  non-taxable VAT threshold.
