"Veolia Djur" to consider proposal on revising drinking water tariff  for socially vulnerable inhabitants

ArmInfo. Single operator of Armenia's water supply Veolia Djur company will consider the proposal of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of  Armenia on revising the tariff on drinking water for socially  vulnerable inhabitants of the country.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy  Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia, this issue was the  subject of discussions on June 19 between Minister Artur Grigoryan  and France-based Veolia Company Director for Caucasus and Central  Asia Malika Ghendouri. During the meeting, the prospective programs  of the "Veolia Djur" company were also discussed. The sides expressed  their readiness to continue cooperation, aimed at providing the  population with qualitative water supply, improving water supply  programs, and monitoring the results with the help of audit programs.

To recall, starting from January 1, 2018 the Public Services  Regulatory Commission of Armenia increased the water tariff in  Armenia from 180 drams to 191,414 drams per 1 cubic meter. Of these,  the tariff for water supply was 162.702 drams, and for drainage  (water purification) - 28.712 drams. Tariffs for water under a lease  agreement with Veolia, for the second year of its operation, should  be adjusted depending on the electricity tariff, the inflation rate,  and the volumes of retail supplies in the water supply sector. Based  on the results of the PSRC monitoring, as well as taking into account  the losses in the network, the planned consumption for the year 2018  of 116.2 million cubic meters, as well as changes in the electricity  tariff and exchange rates, the water tariff was set at 191.4 drama.  The tariff for the supply of wholesale drinking water services and  drainage amounted to 57,423 drams per cubic meter against the  previous 47,853 drams.  The tariff for the drainage of underground  waters of the "Yerevan Metro named after Karen Demirchyan" CJSC  amounted to 11,114 AMD per cubic meter.
