On this eve during a meeting with Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan,, the regional director of the WB for the countries of the South Caucasus Mercy Tembon said the World Bank is ready to support the implementation of government programs and the development of key sectors of Armenia's economy.
According to press service of Armenian government the Prime Minister hailed the fruitful cooperation between the Government of Armenia and the World Bank and expressed the hope that the ongoing positive changes would help the sides implement new joint projects in our country. Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the Armenian government's priorities and the reforms aimed at fighting corruption, dismantling monopolies, boosting economic development, improving the business environment and so on. The Premier assured of his government's keen interest to expand cooperation with WB in the aforementioned areas.
Mercy Tembon stressed that the World Bank is ready to support the implementation of government programs and the development of key sectors of Armenia's economy. The WB Regional Director welcomed the institutional changes planned by the new government, noting that the Bank is ready to help develop Armenia's strategic development vision.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of WB- Government cooperation.
It was reported earlier that the WB is developing a strategic plan of cooperation with Armenia. In overall, starting from 1992 the bank provided more than $2.3 bln to Armenia.
