Ministry of Energy and PSRC of Armenia to study reasonability of  electricity and gas tariffs

ArmInfo. The Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia has taken the  initiative to study the reasonability of the current tariffs for electricity and gas, Minister of Energy Artur Grigoryan told journalists today.

According to him, the research is carried out jointly with the Public  Services Regulation Commission (PSRC) and generation facilities. In  the process of thorough studies, all aspects, including losses in the  fields of electricity and gas, will be considered. The Minister urged  not to rush things, and to wait for the results of the work begun,  especially since such kinds of issues should be resolved in the legal  field. "It is important to realize the existing situation, and what  we can achieve. Ultimately, the final decision will be taken by PSRC,  we have started work," the Minister said, adding that among the  priority areas of research will be the question why Armenia acquires  Russian gas at a relatively low price on the border, and resells it  on high price. "In this regard, it is important to study the  structure of the tariff in order to understand the reasonability of  its application," the Minister stressed, adding that work on studying  the reasonability of the current tariffs is carried out by Armenia's  Prime Minister order.

To recall, on June 15, in an interview with RT, Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan noted that on the border Armenia receives cheap gas from  Russia, but from the border to the consumer's house the price of gas  is doubled. "We have to discuss this problem to understand it, "the  Prime Minister noted.
