ArmInfo. The Artsakh government is ready to continue providing assistance to the private sector in the development of solar energy in the republic, State Minister of Artsakh Grigory Martirosyan announced today during a meeting with the leaders of a number of companies engaged in the energy sector.
According to the press service of the government during the meeting the need to separate the electricity systems received by consumers from solar energy from the main network was stressed and the use of a clear calculation mechanism was emphasized. Positively evaluating this proposal, the State Minister informed the guests that it is already planned to implement legislative reforms this fall, which, on the model of the Republic of Armenia, will allow autonomous solar producers to sell surplus electricity to Artsakhenergo CJSC. The State Minister also suggested that guests in case of having sufficient financial resources, pay attention to the Shahumyan district. Currently, photovoltaic stations are located in Shushi and in the Askeran region. To recall, in order to heat residential houses in the community of Karintak, Shushi region, an experimental program of equipping with solar batteries will begin soon. In addition to the Shushi district, such a program will be implemented also in the Askeran district, where public buildings will switch to consumption of renewable energy. These programs will be implemented through funds collected by the "Hayastan" All- Armenian Fund at last year's telethon. Construction of a solar power station with a capacity of 1 MW is planned in the village of Ivanian, Askeran region. This project will be implemented at the expense of foreign investors. The Artsakh government intends, in parallel with the established and highly effective hydropower, to stimulate also the development of prospective solar energy.
