Earlier, ArmInfo informed that the company "International Airports of  Armenia", managing "Shirak", with the aim of improving the  infrastructure of the airport intends to invest $ 10 million in the  airport, $ 3 million of which will be invested already in 2018. Also  work is carried out on the involvement of new budget air carriers,  for this purpose, low tariffs for services have been established at  the airport, and some are even free of charge.

To recall, last September, the beginning of construction of a  passenger terminal of the Kapan airport in the southeast of Armenia  was officially announced. In July, activities began on leveling the  site and reconstructing the runway. The total budget of the project  is about $ 2 million.  There were about 26 airports and airfields in  Soviet Armenia in the late 1980-ies of the last century.
