Expert: The boom of production and export of brandy (cocnag)is  expected within 3 years

ArmInfo. The boom of production and export of brandy  is expected in three years. This  forecast was voiced by the head of the Union of Winemakers of Armenia  Avag Harutyunyan. He stated this on August 22 at a press conference.

According to the Head of the Union, in the first half of the year,  brandy production fell by 12%, and exports - by one-third. "This  trend will continue for the next three years," the expert said. His  expert predicted the tightening of the quality requirements on the  Russian market, and the reduction of corruption risks after the  revolutionary events in the country.

According to his forecasts, at the same time, it is expected to  reduce the amount of imported alcohol, and to ensure full  transparency of the import procedure. In view of the fact that from  January 1, 2019 additional customs duties will come into force, and  the number of importers will decrease. "I want to say that a decrease  in the volume of brandy  production within 3 years will create a  serious basis for further sharp growth in the production and export  of quality Armenian brandy . In other words, the industry is  completely cleared of counterfeit, "A. Harutyunyan concluded. In this  context, the expert drew particular attention to the fact that for  the last time in Armenia there was no fixed falsified alcohol  production in 1913. "More than 100 years later, the velvet revolution  that took place in Armenia gives us a chance again that we completely  abandon the production of falsified products," he said.

Answering the question about the amount of falsified products, A.  Harutyunyan said that in Armenia the harvest of grapes amounted to  70-80 thousand tons, while the volume of billets reached 210-230  thousand tons. "With such a difference, it is not difficult to  calculate the proportion of falsified products," he said.  According  to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, Armenia, in 2017,  produced 30 million liters.  wine with an annual growth of 39%.  According to the Customs Service, during the reporting period Armenia  exported 25.5 million liters of  ethyl alcohol, alcohol tincture,  liqueur and other alcoholic beverages, with an annual growth of  22.8%, with the increase in customs value by 37.8% to $ 207.3  million.
