ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan was presented the project of the Engineering City, as well as innovative engineering solutions and a production model for those companies that will be involved in the project.
As the press service of the Government reports, the city will consist of research, production and educational units. It is planned to establish schools with an engineering orientation on its territory, and educational studies will be conducted. Currently, a technopark for children is under construction.
The program provides for the training and retraining of 1,500 highly qualified specialists, the creation of 2,000 new jobs, start-ups, increasing the efficiency of enterprises and increasing exports. The construction is planned on the territory of 3 hectares, located at Bagrevand street in Yerevan.
In the engineering city, private companies have already established an engineering center, an engineering library, as well as the museums of the Cosmos, Science and Technology.
According to the source, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of effective implementation of the project, noting that the IT sphere is one of the drivers of economic growth. "The development of the high-tech industry, the IT and experimental sectors has always been the focus of the government's attention," he stressed.
According to the National Statistics Service of Armenia, the IT sector of Armenia following the results of 2017 went up by 13.6% growth, providing an annual revenue of 269.1 billion AMD ($ 557.5 million). According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, 80.1% of the total volume of the IT sector's revenue forms the services provided, with annual growth of 6.5%, up to 215.5 billion drams.
