ArmInfo. The Armenian government is negotiating with the American side on non-distribution of sanctions on the plant "RUSAL ARMENAL". On September 3, RA Minister of Economic Development and Investments Artsvik Minasyan stated at a press conference in Yerevan timed to 100 days in office.
According to him, negotiations with the American side are conducted with the participation of the company "RUSAL ARMENAL" and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. The position of the Armenian side, the minister continued, is that the sanctions should not apply to enterprises in Armenia. "I do not want to run ahead, but there are positive developments already, I hope that they will lead to positive results," Artsvik Minasyan said.
To recall, OK "RUSAL" and its subsidiaries came under US sanctions in April. The condition for their withdrawal was the withdrawal of the main shareholder Oleg Deripaska from controlling the company. Meanwhile, according to Fitch Ratings analysts, if the US does not lift sanctions from the world's second- largest aluminum producer, by 2021 metal prices may rise by more than a third. Thus, analysts of Fitch Ratings state, restrictive measures will aggravate the situation not only for the company itself, but also for the global market as a whole.
Earlier, several Armenian and Azerbaijani news agencies disseminated unreliable information about possible "mass reduction" at the "ARMENAL" plant due to the fact that due to US sanctions the volumes of foil exports decreased. Since this enterprise is the largest producer and exporter of finished industrial products, ArmInfo agency applied for a comment to Arthur Zakaryan, Director General of RUSAL ARMENAL CJSC, who stated: "The plant is stable, there can be no mass cuts. the volume of production and its implementation, and, most importantly, in a timely manner receives a salary.I declare with full responsibility that the information on staff reductions that was published in some media, S THE false. The authors of the texts did not go to the press service of our plant, as required by journalistic ethics, the verification of their conclusions. "
