Irrigation sphere of Armenia in the preparatory process will receive  state assistance

ArmInfo. Irrigation needs  government assistance. This was February 5 at a meeting chaired by  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, said Minister of Territorial  Administration and Development of the Republic of Armenia Suren  Papikyan.

According to the press service of the government of Armenia, the main  issue of the meeting, which was attended by the governors of the  regions,The leaders of the State Committee for Water Management and  the companies - water users, began the preparatory work for the  irrigation season.According to Suren Papikyan, large debts were  formed in this sphere, of which 80 million drams were repaid in  January of this year. However, as the minister noted, these funds are  not enough to carry out the preparatory work.The meeting discussed  issues related to improving the efficiency of water resources  management, accumulated over the years of debt, risk management of  illegal use of water from the basins, control over the use of  irrigation water.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the timely start of the  irrigation season and the provision of farms with sufficient amounts  of water. He noted that the government will provide the necessary  financial assistance for this purpose. At the same time, Nikol  Pashinyan instructed the responsible persons to submit proposals on a  comprehensive solution of the issue. "We agree as follows: the funds  will be allocated from the budget, and the efficiency of their use  will be under strict control. First of all, we will keep under strict  control the volumes of water in the reservoirs to be confident in  managing them. 

Credit programs will also be revised in order to determine the areas  of redistribution of funds so that resources are used as efficiently  as possible. In the field of water management, it is necessary to  take the path of reforms and serious personnel changes, "the head of  the government said the government. He stressed that in the first  decade of March all the Farmer's farms should be provided with the  necessary volumes of water. He instructed the. RA Minister of  Agriculture Gegam Gevorgyan to provide information on the programs  implemented at the preparatory stage, aimed at the successful  implementation of spring field work.
